Hazel Brooks graduated in languages from the University of Cambridge. She then went on to study violin at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig and baroque violin at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Winner of various prizes including the Christopher Kite Prize 1997 and the Bankers Trust Pyramid Award 1998, Ms. Brooks was a finalist in the York International Early Music Competition 1999 and the International Young Artists' Presentation 2000 in Antwerp.As a vielle player, Hazel was a founder of the ensemble Concanentes. She is also a member of theNetherlands based ensemble Trist'alegre. She works with soprano Faye Newton in the duo Trobairitz which specialises in the music of the troubadours and trouvères. Recital venues have included the South Bank Centre in London and the Barcelona Early Music Festival. Hazel has released a solo CD on the Singing Space label and is guest professor at the Guildhall.
